The Gisborne Group is a multi disciplined industrial construction company based in Burnaby BC that has been in continuous operation since 1953 and performs work throughout Canada. Gisborne’s industrial construction projects range from the installation of complete plants and processing lines to the installation, hook-up and piping of single machines. Specializing in industrial construction, piping, and mechanical installations, our company has attracted and developed a substantial work force of certified trades required for precision mechanical installations, piping, structural steel installation, foundation and civil work in the mining, forestry and related industrial sectors.

As the ideal candidate you have:
- 3- 5 years of experience in mid to large scale industrial construction estimating
- A demonstrated record of participating in the estimating process for large scale projects
- Proven skills in quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimating techniques, particularly in the areas of piping, mechanical, structural & miscellaneous steel and platework
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering and construction processes as they relate to tendering
- Strong conceptual, problem solving and decision making skills
- A high degree of accuracy in numerical calculations and material take offs from tender documents
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both within the organization and with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
- Good planning, documentation and time management skills
- Some field experience
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of industry standards and regulations
- Proficiency in Estimating Software, MS Project, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Reporting to the Chief Estimator, your duties will include:
- Understanding the scope of work and the contractual requirements for projects as provided in tender or contract documents
- Soliciting and coordinating sub-trade and supplier quotations for labor, material and equipment to meet project and budget requirements and ensuring that tender documents are provided to the sub-trades and suppliers
- Quantifying all aspects of the tender documents using estimating processes, systems and documentation procedures that Gisborne has developed
- Organizing and maintaining tender documents
- Preparing detailed project cost estimates and bids from tender documents & attending in-house tender reviews
- Monitoring cost and schedule fluctuations, and make appropriate revisions to cost estimates
- Attending site pre-tender meetings as required
- Delivery of completed tenders to clients prior to bid closings as required
